What is Collateral and Will I Be Required to Provide It?

Collateral is an item of value used to ensure payment or secure a debt.

Collateral is not required in all cases, you will need to discuss that with your bail bond agent.  However, many co-signers are required to provide collateral to secure the bond amount.

Collateral can be in the form of real estate, cash or other real property. Discuss the options with your agent.

Your collateral will be returned once the bail bond is dissolved. This will happen after the defendant has completed all required court appearances, the case is closed and all obligations to the courts have been satisfactorily met.
